Oil You Can "Brew": The Magical Magic of Turning Camellia Oil into Nano Powder
Oil and water don't mix, but using plant-extracted nanocellulose, scientists successfully encapsulated camellia oil into a "solid powder" that melts in water, preventing oxidation and perfectly restoring the emulsion.

Camellia oil is praised as the "Olive Oil of the East," rich in unsaturated fatty acids and excellent for cardiovascular health. However, when processed into food or drugs, liquid oil is extremely prone to oxidative rancidity and hard to mix with aqueous components.
Imagine if we could turn camellia oil into a "solid powder" like instant milk powder; when needed, just add water to brew it, and it instantly becomes a fragrant, uniform emulsion. How great would that be? Today, this is no longer science fiction; scientists have turned it into reality using Pickering Emulsion technology.

Wrapping Liquid Oil with "Wood"
Traditional microencapsulation technology often uses chemical emulsifiers, which can cause safety concerns. This research introduced a purely natural, hardcore packaging material: Cellulose Nanocrystals (CNCs). This substance is extremely tiny "wooden sticks" extracted from plant wood.
Researchers first used high-frequency ultrasound to shatter camellia oil into tiny droplets. Subsequently, in water, these charged CNC "sticks" attach densely to the surface of every oil droplet like magnets, forming an indestructible solid armor—this is a "Pickering Emulsion."
The Birth and Resurrection of Solid Powder
To completely turn it into powder, the research team added a water-soluble protective umbrella (like sodium carboxymethyl cellulose) and then dried it in a freeze-dryer.
A miracle was born: the final product was a dry, fluffy white powder (CO-PEP). Inside this powder, the camellia oil is perfectly sealed within solid cavities formed by nanocellulose, isolating it from oxygen in the air, preventing oil leakage, and greatly extending its shelf life.
The most amazing part is its "redispersibility." When you drop this powder back into water, the protective umbrella quickly dissolves, and the sealed nano camellia oil droplets are instantly released, almost perfectly restoring the delicate and uniform emulsion state before drying.

Opening the Door to Future Food and Medicine
This breakthrough technology brings a revolution to the storage and transport of lipid substances.
It means that in the future, we will have extremely oxidation-resistant camellia oil powder companions, or we can make extremely insoluble and volatile TCM essential oils (like peppermint oil, turmeric oil) directly into instant dry powder pills that melt in water. The crossover combination of natural cellulose and plant oils is exactly the highest romance of green technology.
